Using strong colors, varied texture, and elaborately built-up surfaces upon which to paint, Loie Hollowell creates a visual language somewhere between abstraction and figuration. Appearing at first glance to be strictly abstract, closer inspection of the painting reveals that the form on the left is a distinguishable breast emitting a vibrant orange color.
