This elegant monograph was published on the occasion of the opening of the new galleries of South Asian art, October, 2016. Two shrine hangings, called pichhwais, and depicting scenes from the life of Krishna were a focal point of the new galleries. Pichhwais are cloths of various sizes that hang as a sort of backdrop to devotional objects.
