Purchased in 1939 at a Paris exhibition, The Frame hangs in the Centre Pompidou as the only painting by Frida Kahlo owned by a European museum. A remarkable fact considering the artists’ worldwide popularity. The Frame consists of two parts: a self-portrait on an aluminum sheet, and an overlaid glass plate painted with stylistic birds and vibrant flowers.
